Founded by Paul Wegimont in 2024, noa gallery is located in the heart of Arles, at the entrance of the historic Roquette square. Though modest in size, the gallery — also serving as Wegimont's private entrance to his home — reveals more than initially meets the eye. At its center stands a striking staircase, crafted by local legend and metalsmith Pascal Versini. The interplay between raw metal and warm wood creates a compelling contrast that anchors the space. In the height of summer, the gallery's stone façade, built from the same ancient materials once used by the Romans to construct the nearby 1st-century Amphitheatre, glows under the golden Provençal light - connecting the building to the deep architectural legacy of Arles.
The name noa carries layered meanings: from love in Japanese, freedom in Hawaiian, and movement in Hebrew. For Wegimont, however, it's need of action that resonates most – a fitting reflection of both the gallery's spirit and his own. The urgency to act in response to our current environment and habitat has reached a critical point.
